Тhe department at the beginning as the Department of "Technical Operation of Air Transport" (TEVT) was based on the decision of the Academic Council of the Tajik Institute of Transport dated March 18, 2005. At the beginning of its career, the department as a specialized department in the areas 130300 – "Technical operation of flying vehicles and engines", 240300 – "Aircraft operation and organization of aviation traffic" and 240101 - "Organization of transportation and management of air transport" trained highly qualified specialists in the field of aviation, an engineer in the field of civil aviation. In the creation of the department, first of all, the first teachers of the department Mastongulov M.A., Rakhimov M.S., Odinaev S. Mirrakhmatov S.Sh. General Director of GUAP "Tajik-Air "Tilloev X, Deputy General Director of GUAP"Tajik-Air" Hamroev F.H., Technical director of GUAP "Tajik-Air"Sharipov V.S. The first acting head of the department"TEVT " Rakhimov M.S. is fixed. Based on the decision of the Academic Council of the Institute of Transport of Tajikistan dated August 28, 2006, Candidate of Technical Sciences Mirrakhmatov S.S. passed the competition as the first head of the department. Mirrakhmatov S.S. until 2016 and from 2016 to 2017 Majidov B.D. headed the Department of TEVT, during this period they provided poetic services in the field of training specialists in the field of civil aviation, conducting scientific and methodological work and creating laboratory and practical bases of the department. Currently, the management of the department is under the supervision of Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Gafurzod Jaloliddin Sadriddin.

Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan No. 471 dated September 1, 2007 "on the accession of the Institute of Transport of Tajikistan to the Tajik Technical University named after Academician M.S. Teachers of the department's specialties have high educational and methodological experience, skills and abilities, some of them, along with work at the university, also have extensive experience in the country's air transportation. The Department of TEVTi Railway has connections with several foreign aviation universities, including the State Technical University of Civil Aviation, Moscow, MGTUGA. State Aviation University. St. Petersburg, the Belarusian State Institute of Civil Aviation and the State Institute of Civil Aviation of Tashkent also have cooperation agreements. The Department of TEVT and Railway on the basis of the decision of the educational and methodological organization of universities of Russia, in the field of aviation and space technology "UMO RF", No. 4 dated 29.12.2008, received recognition as a member of UMO Russia. Also on this basis, the Tajik Technical University named after Academician M.S.Osimi with the "Educational and Methodological Association of Russian Universities" in the field of education, and in the field of aviation and space technology

Currently, the department has established training of specialists in Russian in the specialty 1-3704.01 - "Technical operation of air vessels and engines", and in Tajik – in the specialties 1-370201 - "traction composition of railway transport" The first leadership of the Department of Scientific and Technical Sciences, associate Professor Mirrakhmatov S.G. on strengthening the composition of the department was a number of issues have been resolved. Including in 2016-Gafurzoda J.S., 2017-Husenzoda M.A., 2020-Sheraliev A.Q and 2021-Yakubov G.D. PhD theses that received a degree in technical sciences, physics, became mathematical and economic. Currently, at the department, at the expense of comrades of different years, Gafurzoda J.S., Husenzoda M.A., Sheraliev A.Q, Toirov I.S. and Yakubov, etc., the teaching staff is provided to conduct pedagogical and scientific activities. 87 percent of the teachers of the department have a Master of Science degree. Teachers of the department have published more than 100 scientific articles and theses, 13 methodological manuals over the past 5 years.

The department has 5 units of educational and practical classes and one laboratory of aircraft engines and equipment, rail and road transport, equipped with parts of flying vehicles, engines and functional systems of flying vehicles, which serve for conducting lectures and practical classes in the specialties of the department.
