From 1957 to 1961, the department was headed by an experienced scientist, candidate of technical sciences, associate professor Tartakovskaya Margarita Markovna. In 1958, the department "Water supply and sewerage" was withdrawn from the department "and SM". From 1961 to 1970, the department " D and BM" was headed by an experienced engineer, head of many projects of bridges and rivers in Tajikistan, an experienced master, associate professor Vavilova Sofya Alekseevna.

In 1964, the Department of Architecture was created at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, and the Department of Architecture was withdrawn from the Department of D and BM into a separate department. In 1968, due to the increase in the number of students, the department "D and BM" was divided into two departments - "Reinforced concrete structures" (RCS) and "Building structures" (BS).In 1964, the Department of Architecture was created at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, and the Department of Architecture was withdrawn from the Department of D and BM into a separate department. In 1968, due to the increase in the number of students, the department "K and CM" was divided into two departments - "Reinforced concrete structures" (RCS) and "Building structures" (BS).A young specialist, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Yakov Shalamonovich Iskhakov, was appointed the head of the RCS department. The subjects "Reinforced concrete structures" and "Building materials" were taught at the department.

In a short time, laboratories of building materials and reinforced concrete structures were organized at the Department of Reinforced Concrete Structures. In 1974, the Department of Structural Mechanics and Seismic Resistance of Structures separated from the Department of Reinforced Concrete Structures, and the Department of Soil Mechanics, Bases and Foundations separated from the Department of Building Construction. With the beginning of the leadership of the department, Iskhakov Ya.Sh. paid great attention to the education of young scientists. In 1969, graduates of specialty 1202 - "Industrial and civil construction" Sharipov L.Sh., Nuraliev K.N. and a graduate of the Engineering and Construction Institute of Moscow. V.V. Kuibysheva Nizomov J.N. were accepted by teachers of the disciplines "Building structures", "Building materials" and "Building mechanics". From 1971 to 1999, the Department of Building Structures was headed by Ph.D., Associate Professor Juraev G.G. and candidate of technical sciences, associate professor Rakhmonov R.R. After Iskhakov Ya.Sh. and Golubev M.N. from 1984 to 1996 Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Usmonov A.Yu. and Ruziev A.R. were responsible both for their own and for the development and promotion of educational work.

The head of the department "Reinforced concrete structures" and later the department "Reinforced concrete structures, bases and foundations" after Iskhakov Ya.Sh. was appointed candidate of technical sciences, associate professor Golubev M.N. From 1984 to 1996, the department was headed by Usmonov A.U. and Ruziev A.R., who contributed to the development and promotion of educational, scientific, methodological, research, creative and improvement of the department and increasing the level of students' knowledge. In the late 1980s, the number of students decreased and the unification of departments began. In 1996, the departments "Reinforced concrete structures" and "Building structures" were merged, and in 2001 the department "Mechanics of construction and earthquake-resistant construction" joined them, and the department "Industrial and civil engineering" (ICE) was created.

The department was headed by: candidate of technical sciences, associate professor Rakhmonov R.R. (1996-1999), candidate of technical sciences, associate professor Numonov O.R. (1999-2000), Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Nizomov Yu.N. (2000-2005), Ph.D., Associate Professor Sharipov L. (2005-2012) and Ph.D., Associate Professor Khamidov K.A. (2012-2018).            From 2018 to the present, the head of the department is Ph.D., Associate Professor Akramov A.A. Currently, 16 teachers work at the department.During the activity, three teachers of the department (Zaripov S.S., Saidov R.R. and Sharipov Sh.Sh.) defended their dissertations. One teacher (I.S. Muminov) is at the stage of defending his dissertation. The number of teachers of the department with academic degrees is 10 (2-doctoral and 8- candidate), which is 62.5%.

INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITY

The department trains foreign citizens (from Afghanistan and Uzbekistan) at the master's and bachelor's level, through which the department helps to strengthen foreign educational and scientific ties. The department also cooperates with the Architectural and Construction Institute of the city of Tashkent (TASI) and the Samarkand State Institute of Architecture and Construction (SamGASI).
