The activity of the department “Architecture of buildings and structures”, as an educational and scientific unit of the Tajik Technical University named after academician M.S. Osimi, has been carried out since 1958. The structure and direction of the department’s activities have been formed and improved for more than 60 years. stages of its development, which, accordingly, are due to the need to train architectural and construction personnel for the country, in response to socio-economic needs and their impact on the development of architecture, construction and, in general, higher professional education in the republic.

At the suggestion of the government of Dushanbe, from the 1997-1998 academic year, at the department, which was called “Architecture of civil and industrial buildings”, training began in the specialty “Construction and urban economy”, and from the same year, until December 2015, according to specialty name of the department was renamed to "Construction and urban economy".

At present, taking into account the expansion of the department's activities (training specialists in the specialty "Design of buildings and structures", a new specialty formed in the field of architecture and construction in the structure of the faculty) by decision of the Academic Council of the University, since January 2016 the department has received its current name - "Architecture buildings and structures".The specialty 700201-05 - “Design of buildings and structures”, in which bachelors and masters study at the department, was one of the first at the university that was awarded the certificate of the European Accreditation Program of the Engineering Education Association for 2015-2020.

Currently, the department has 13 teachers and 2 technical support staff, including: 1 doctor of architecture, acting professor; 1 professor-candidate of technical sciences; 2 associate professors - Ph.D.; 1 PhD senior lecturer; 1 senior lecturer; 5 PhD assistants and 2 part-time teachers, 1 clerk and 1 laboratory assistant. Two young teachers of the department are currently studying in graduate school at the universities of the Russian Federation.

The process of educational activity of the department is carried out in three directions: - training of bachelors and masters in the specialty "Design of buildings and structures";

- architectural training and education of "civil engineers" of all specialties of the faculty "C&A";

- engineering training of students of architectural specialty in the subjects "Architectural physics" and "Architectural structures".

The reputation of the department is confirmed by the high level of educational and methodical publications. The department has sufficient scientific potential and work is carried out in two main areas of scientific activity:

- research in the field of architectural and construction design of residential and public buildings;

- research on issues related to architectural and construction physics in civil industrial buildings, as well as in the field of improving the energy efficiency of buildings.Of the teachers of the department, one (Professor Nigmatov I.I.) was awarded the honorary title “Honored Worker of Tajikistan”, teacher Khasanov N.N. was awarded the medal "Khizmati shoista". All veterans of the department were awarded the honorary titles "Excellence in Education of Tajikistan", "Honorary Architect of the Republic of Tatarstan", "Honorary Builder of the Republic of Tatarstan" and "Master of Architecture" - the Union of Architects of Tajikistan.

Currently, the duties of the head of the Department of Architecture of Buildings and Structures are performed by Acting Professor, Doctor of Architecture, member of the Union of Architects and the Union of Designers of the Republic, Honorary Architect of the Republic of Tatarstan Khasanov Nozimsho Nazokatshoevich.
