Training of specialists in the field of metallurgy at the Tajik Technical University named after acad. M.S. Osimi in foundry and heat treatment of metals. Since 2003 the department of NFMM began to admit students for the specialties 1104-"Foundry manufacture of ferrous and non-ferrous metals" and 1105-"Metallurgy and heat treatment of metals". In 1996 the department of "Non-ferrous metals metallurgy" was formed at the faculty of "Chemical technology and metallurgy" (NFMM). For the first time in 1999, local specialists graduated from the university with a degree in metallurgical engineering 1102-"Non-ferrous metals metallurgy".        Then the large Tajik enterprises needed specialists

From 2008 to 2016, the 3 above-mentioned specialties and the Department of NFMM were trained specialists.

In 2016, as a result of the merger of the departments "Mechanical Engineering" and "Chemical Technology and Metallurgy" was organized faculty "Innovative Technologies". As a result of the merger of the departments "Metallurgy of non-ferrous metals and "Technology of electrochemical production" was named the department "Metallurgy". In the same year at the department of "Metallurgy" new specialty 520201 - "Technology and equipment of jewelry industry" was opened.

From 1996 to 2012, the department was headed by Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor Dzhuraev T.D. as an experienced teacher, was widely recognized by teachers and students of the university. He regularly provides methodical and pedagogical assistance to young teachers, organizes open classes and makes scientific-methodical reports at national and international conferences, seminars and symposiums.

In the shortest possible time, he set up the first metallurgical graduates in the Republic of Tajikistan. Organized laboratories. Printed study guide and instructions on lectures and method of practical work. More than 150 students defended their qualification work under his leadership, which has scientific and industrial significance. More than 15 students of Prof. Dzhuraev T.D. were awarded the degree of Candidate of Sciences. Professor Dzhuraev T. D. chair is the scientific director of the department. He has published over 500 scientific articles, monographs, inventions and teaching aids. He is the inventor of the symbolic signs of the USSR and the excellent educationalist of the RT. Dzhuraev T.D. takes an active part in public works of the university. Currently, he is a member of the dissertation council at the Tajik Technical University named after acad. M.S. Osimi.

From January 1, 2013 to 2021, the department was headed by Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor Muslimov I.Sh. being a rising teacher and university student, he is in great demand. He regularly provides methodical and pedagogical help to young teachers, organizes open lessons, conducts scientific and methodical reports at conferences, seminars and symposiums of the republic and international conferences. More than 140 students defended their qualification work under his guidance, which has production value. Under the guidance of Associate Professor Muslimov I.Sh. 2 postgraduate students received the degree of candidate of sciences. He published more than 120 scientific articles, monographs, inventions and manuals. He is an excellent educator of RT. Muslimov I.Sh. takes an active part in public works of the university. He is currently a member of the dissertation council at the Tajik Technical University named after acad. M.S. Osimi.

Since September 1, 2021 the head of the department is Candidate of Chemical Sciences, associate professor Rakhimov F.K. From the beginning of his work began as an assistant and worked as a senior lecturer, registrar of the department "Chemical technology and metallurgy" in the registration and consultation center of credit system education methodologist training department, doctoral candidate and assistant professor of the department "Metallurgy". Currently works as the head of the Department of Metallurgy.

Rakhimov F.K. as an experienced teacher has a special place among teachers and students of the university, regularly provides methodological assistance to young teachers and makes scientific and methodological presentations at national conferences and seminars. Rakhimov F.K. is the author (co-author) of more than 90 scientific works, including scientific articles, monographs, patents and educational and methodical work. It is important to note that at present he has a doctoral PhD under his supervision.

Now the department "Metallurgy" prepares specialists in 3 specialties:

420101-0101-"Foundry Production of Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals";

420101-0104- "Nonferrous metals metallurgy";

520201 - "Technology and equipment of jewelry industry".

Already more than 1000 graduates of the department work in domestic metallurgical enterprises, including JSC "Tajik Aluminum Company", LLC TalCo, joint ventures "Zarafshon", "Aprelevka", "Anzob", "Takob", "Pakrud", and in metallurgical enterprises abroad.

Highly qualified specialists have worked and are working in the chair: Academician of International Academy of Engineering, Laureate of State Prize named after Avicenna, Ph, Professor A.V. Vakhobov, Academician of International Academy of Engineering, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor T.D. Dzhuraev, Professor M.S. Pulatov, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor Z.A.
