Department of Languages of the Tajik Technical University named after
M.S. Osimi has been working alongside specialized departments since founding of the university. Along with the improvement and development structure of the university, the Department of Languages was also renamed several times.
The head of the department is a candidate of philological sciences, associate professor Temurova Momagul Kurbonalievna. Currently in the department of languages, there are 19 full-time teachers and 2 part-time teachers in three disciplines: the Tajik language, the Russian language and English language. Of these, 7 candidates of sciences, 6 senior lecturers and 8 assistants of the department, of which 4 assistants are graduate students and applicants working on scientific dissertations.
Head of the Department of Languages associate professor Temurova M.K. pays particular attention to continuous professional development and improvement knowledge of teachers. Teachers attend professional development courses every year.
In order to improve language skills and attract students to learning languages at the department, there are circles "Amateurs and keepers of the language" (in Tajik), "Knowledge of the language - knowledge of the world" (in Russian) and "Translator" (in English).
It should be noted that due to the efforts of the teachers of the Department of Languages in 2021 in the republican competition "Book - the illumination of wisdom" university students won, two of them entered the city tour and one to the republican tour. University students participate and win subject Olympiads and occupy prominent places in interuniversity and city Olympiads. The teachers of the department are also held subject weeks. Holding such events has a lot of importance in raising the language level, in the knowledge of history and culture of the language being studied.
Teachers of the department regularly hold conferences and round tables with university students on the occasion of significant dates, honoring Tajik poets and writers, that testifies to their diligence and high professional responsibility.
History of the Department of Languages
Since the founding of the Department of Languages, the first head was experienced teacher Belyakova G.A. On the basis of the department there was a section for the study of the Russian language. In 1979 was founded the department of Russian language, which was headed by senior teacher Adilova M.A. In August 1982 in connection with the arrival of foreign students to study at the university, the department was divided into two departments: the department "Russian language" (head of the department Babkina M.D.) and the department "Russian language for foreign students” (head of the department Ibragimova M.S.).
Taking into account the specialties and the opening of new faculties, the staff of department was replenished. In 1990, the number of teachers of the Russian language department reached 20 people, at that time the department was headed by a senior teacher Mutovkina V.U.
In 1995, there was a merger of the departments of Tajik and Russian languages. The head of the department was elected candidate of philological sciences, associate professor Aliev O.A., who headed the department until March 2009.
From March 2009 to 2015, the head of the department was candidate of philological sciences, associate professor Bokiev Hamza Olimovich. During this period, the publication of scientific and methodological articles of teachers in newspapers and magazines has expanded, 5 teachers: Muhammadiev Sh.M., Temurova M., Hikmatov J.H., Kayumova H.A. and Ikromova S.A. successfully defended their dissertations.
In March 2015, the post of head of the department of Tajik and Russian languages was headed by candidate of philological sciences Hikmatov Jumaboy
Hakimovich. During the work at the department 6 teachers: Ashurova T., Ikromova G.H., Shoeva N.A., Ahmadzoda B.S., Boboeva M.M. and Kamolova G.R. successfully defended their dissertations.
In September 2015, by the decision of the Academic Council of the University, the department Tajik and Russian languages was merged with the Department of Foreign languages and was renamed into the Department of Languages, which teaches students four languages: Tajik, Russian, English and German. Until October 2020, the head of the department was candidate of philological sciences Hikmatov Jumaboy. In 2017 German language teaching was suspended due to reduced requirements for learning German language.
From November 2020 to the present, the department is headed by candidate of philological sciences, associate professor Temurova Momagul Kurbonalievna. In 2020 two teachers of English language - assistants Olimova A.S. and Sultonova S.A. successfully defended dissertations. Currently at the department 4 teachers are graduate students and applicants who work on dissertations.
